On September 24, 2009, China Law & Policy talked with Prof. Gerald Curtis of Columbia University and an expert on Japanese politics and society.  On August 30, 2009, the Japanese people gave a resounding cry for change when it voted overwhelmingly for the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) in the general election for the Lower Diet.  The DPJ took a whopping 308 out of 480 seats; the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), the party which ruled Japan since 1955, took a mere 118 seats.  What does this change, if anything, mean for Japanese-Chinese relations?
